Controversies• In 2004, there were rumours that B.S Yediyurappa and Shobha Karandlaje (Lok Sabha MP; BJP) had an affair.

• In 2009, the district magistrate ordered a probe to investigate the death of his wife. Many people alleged that she might have been killed; as the death was very suspicious. His wife's death was caused by slipping in a water tank and drowning. Many people raised questions that even though Mythra was 5 feet and five inches tall, how could she have drowned in a tank with only 4 feet of water.

• In 2011, he was forced by the BJP to resign as the CM; due to corruption charges.

• In April 2016, he was criticized when an SUV was gifted to him by a sugar baron, Murugesh Nirani. The SUV was worth 1 crore INR, and it was being used by him to inspect the drought-hit areas.

• In May 2017, he was heavily criticized when he went for a meal at a Dalit house, but allegedly, he ordered food from a nearby hotel.

• In February 2019, several audiotapes of conversations of Yediyurappa with MLA's of the JDS and Congress were exposed. The MLA's were being offered 50 Crores INR to resign and join the BJP. The JDS and Congress accused Yeddyurappa of trying to bring down the Kumaraswamy government.

• In March 2024, a case was filed against Yediyurappa by the Sadashivanagara police in Bengaluru under the POCSO Act. The complaint was made by the mother of a minor girl who claimed that Yediyurappa sexually assaulted her daughter when they visited him to seek help for cheating case on 2 February 2024.
