Controversies• Rana was one of the 22 players who were, in 2015, barred from taking part in age-group tournaments because of the allegations of age fudging.

• On 16 April 2023, he was fined 25 percent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the first innings of the match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders during which he had spat with Hrithik Shokeen. In the ninth over of the match, Shokeen and Rana got into a verbal spat after the bowler dismissed the KKR captain. Rana did not take the gesture well and hurled some back himself before the MI players present on the pitch pulled the duo away. [1]India Today
