• Lubna Salim’s father used to work as a journalist and later joined the film industry as a screenwriter.

• Her mother used to work as a costume designer in the Hindi Film Industry.

• Being associated with a filmy background, she started acting in theatre at a tender age. Her parents were members of the ‘Indian People’s Theatre Association’ (a theatre group). Lubna gave her first performance with the group at the age of 7 years and acted in the famous play ‘Godan’ by Premchand.

• She had received the offer to play the child Umrao Jaan in the Rekha starer film ‘Umarao Jaan.’ But due to her studies, she had to refuse the offer.

• When Lubna Salim was 16, she also tried her hands on acting in commercial movies. But she was not comfortable with the intimate scenes and exposure. So, Lubna dropped her idea of becoming a mainstream actress. But as she loved acting, she continued theatre.

• During her college, she participated in the college plays and won the ‘Balraj Sahni’ award for Best Actress at an inter-college play competition.

• She was nominated for the ITA Best Actress award twice for her performance as Chhatrapati Shivaji’s mother, Jijabai.
