Abraham' for using her photographs to promote their Ayurvedic aphrodisiac Musli Power Extra without her permission. • In 2012, Shweta was criticised by Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker 'G. Karthikeyan' for allowing her delivery to be recorded on camera for the Malayalam film 'Kalimannu.' Kerala Film Exhibitors' Federation also condemned the film and said that they would boycott the film if the director 'Blessy' includes the delivery scene. • In 2013, she had lodged an FIR against N. Peethambara Kurup by alleging that he had molested her during the President's Trophy Boat Race. She later withdrew the complaint after Kurup made an apology to her.

Shweta Menon was born in a Malayali family.

Though she was born in Chandigarh, she was brought up at various places like Kerala, Allahabad, Pune, and Pathankot; as her father was in the Indian Air Force.

She is the cousin of famous Malayalam actor, Anoop Menon.

Shweta started her acting career in 1991 by playing the role of Catherine in the Malayalam film ‘Anaswaram.’

She also worked as a model and took part in many beauty pageant contests.

In 1994, she participated in the ‘Miss India’ beauty contest where she ended up as the second runner-up; Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai being the winner and first runner-up, respectively.
