  • He played his first Under-19 Abbottabad season at the age of 17. He played for KRL (Khan Research Laboratories) in the season and gave a record-breaking performance by taking 36 wickets.
  • At the start of his career, there were some rumours that he would play for Afghanistan instead of Pakistan. However, he had declined all such rumours and said,

“My dream is to play for Pakistan and no other nation.”

  • He could play only one Under-19 season for KRL as he turned overage. After this, he went on playing for the senior KRL team.
  • After playing some matches from the Khan Research Laboratories, he then, moved to ZTBL (Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited) cricket team.
  • He first came into the eyes of media and public during the Moin Khan Ramadan Tournament. His performance at this Cup proved to be a great turning point in his cricket career.
  • On 3 December 2013, his performance in the final match at Faysal Bank T20 Cup for the team ZTBL against Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited brought him the opportunity to become a part of Pakistan’s National Team. He bowled the former Pakistani cricketer and captain Misbah-ul-Haq on a duck and impressed him. He took 5 wickets with giving away only 9 runs in just 3.1 overs.

  • In an interview on his rejection from the team, he said that

I just didn’t read the change in conditions effectively. However, my confidence is not affected and it is not the end for me. In fact, I am feeling more confident after gaining international exposure. I was selected on merit after my performance in domestic cricket. I was completely ready to perform and it was only my misfortune that I failed to deliver on my first chance. I am not dejected with the failure and will work hard to earn my place in the national team again. There is a lot of domestic cricket nowadays and I will try to impress the selectors again.

  • Later, he got selected for the PSL (Pakistan Super League) by the Karachi Kings team. He played 6 matches for the Karachi Kings and took 6 wickets.
