  • Andile Simelane started playing cricket when he was very young.
  • Later, one of his friends told him about the KFC mini-cricket at the Mpumelelo Primary School in KwaMashu. He didn’t want to play initially but agreed when his friend told him he would get free food.

  • He later played for Dr JL Dube High School in Newlands East, where he gave trials for the KwaZulu-Natal Under-11 team but was rejected. He later made it to the KwaZulu-Natal Under-13 team.
  • He later got a scholarship in grade 6 and attended the Maritzburg College from where Jonty Rhodes and David Miller.

  • On 26 January 2020, he played his maiden List-A match for KwaZulu-Natal in the 2019–20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge.
  • He later played for South Africa in the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies.
  • Andile Simelane was later selected for the Dolphins team and debuted in first-class cricket on 19 February 2023.
