Some Lesser Known Facts About Luis Fernando Salas

• He participated in football and swimming during childhood. He was a division champion in swimming for his school when he was 8 years old.

• In an interview, he revealed that his mother started calling him ‘El Negro’ to help him with the complex about his skin tone and said,
  

  When I was a child, I wanted to be white like my brother, so my mother told the principal of my school about my insecurity. He decided to have everyone call me ‘El negro Salas,’ supposedly to help me overcome my complex, and that’s how the name stuck.”

• When he was 8 years old, he fell onto a fence while playing at his grandmother’s home, resulting in a scar around his neck.

• He talked about getting in trouble several times during his childhood in an interview due to which he has a big scar on his arm and said,
  

  In Cali there is a place called Fracture Clinic and on one occasion the doctor told my father to buy shares in the clinic, because I was put in a cast 8 or 9 times when I was a child.”

• When he was 16, he crashed his father’s car into a bus. His parents thought he had died as incidentally, another car accident had occurred near the same place that day which resulted in the death of two young men and a girl.

• He revealed in an interview that although he studied medicine, he dropped out of college as he felt disillusioned by the career in medicine and said,
  

  I always liked medicine, but I never finished college because I became disillusioned with the career. Modelling was a job that satisfied my whims, like going out partying or buying a car stereo.”

• In an interview, he revealed that it was his flirtatious behaviour with women that led his wife to divorce him.

• In 2020, after he shared his interest in music with actress Alisson Joan, she recommended he take advice from musician and vocal coach, Andrea Moncada.

• After a vocal test, Andrea commended his tone and advised Luis to train his voice. On the advice of Andrea, he began his training.
