  • Before joining the civil services, she worked as an assistant professor, including a period at a university in Saudi Arabia.
  • She entered government service through the Uttar Pradesh civil services and served as a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Uttar Pradesh, including postings in Firozabad and Auraiya.
  • Bushra appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination more than once. Reports state that she secured All India Rank 277 in an earlier attempt and was allotted the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), which she did not join.
  • In a subsequent attempt, she secured AIR 234 and was selected for the Indian Police Service, eventually joining the West Bengal cadre.
  • Her first IPS posting was as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Hooghly Rural, West Bengal.
  • She was later posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (Additional SP), Kharagpur, Paschim Medinipur. She was promoted to the Additional SP position in June 2026.
