• On 30 May 2017, at around 3:22 a.m., Eliza murdered an Uber driver, Grant Nelson, aged 34, who was stabbed multiple times by Eliza inside his car at the corner of Lincoln and Touchy, Lincolnwood. Though, he was rushed to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, where he was declared dead. 

• According to reports, she stole a knife and machete from a Walmart store in Skokie, booked an Uber Cab, and within minutes after she went inside the cab, she started attacking her driver.

• After the incident, the Lincolnwood Police Department arrested her on the same day and on 31 May 2017, she appeared at the Skokie Courthouse, where she was charged as an adult with first-degree murder.

• Before this incident, she had no previous criminal convictions.
