  • Laura Harris is an Australian cricketer who is known for being selected by the team Delhi Capitals for the Women’s Premier League (cricket) in 2023. She has played for the Queensland Fire cricket team in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) and the Brisbane Heat cricket team in the Women’s Big Bash League.
  • When she was a child, she used to play many sports including rugby, soccer and cricket and often dressed up as Darren Lockyer (a former rugby player) while playing with her siblings.

  • She later started playing cricket for clubs and schools, but interestingly, she decided to follow a career in nursing. She used to play for the University of Queensland Cricket Club.

    Originally, I wanted to be a physio but I saw my older sister studying it and it was two years of books so I decided that wasn’t for me, I didn’t enjoy being stuck behind a desk. Nursing was sort of my next thing along, I had a go and it’s worked out alright, since the move to emergency I’ve loved it being on the go all the time and I haven’t wanted to do anything else.”

    I try not to look at the scoreboard as much as I can … because I just overthink it and then it all turns a bit silly. I actually didn’t even know that I had hit the hundred until I turned around and said to (Hinkley), ‘What was that they were clapping?’ I’m a pretty chronic overthinker, but that comes with the game.”
