• Laura Maddaloni was raised in a family involved in the Japanese martial art named ‘Judo.’ She was just 4 years old when she stepped on the Judo mat for the first time and started getting training from her father, Giovanni Maddaloni.

• In her early 20s, Laura joined the Italian police force Guardia di Finanza.

• She made her national junior championship debut in 1996.

• In 2005, Laura took part in the XV Mediterranean Games, which were held in Almería, Spain. She was part of the under-57 kg category event.

• In the same year, Laura Maddaloni met the boxer Clemente Russo in Spain. They both met for the first time in Almería at the XV Mediterranean Games in Spain, where they both competed.

• Laura and Clemente started dating each other soon after and dated for 3 years before getting married in 2008.
