| Controversey | Sexual Harassement Allegation and Temporary Suspension (2024): In June 2024, Lee Hae-in received a three-year suspension from the Korean Skating Union after an incident during an overseas training camp in Italy. The suspension was based on two issues: drinking alcohol and an allegation of inappropriate behavior involving a younger male teammate. Lee admitted to drinking alcohol but denied the harassment allegation, saying the two had previously been in a relationship when both were minors and had mutually agreed to reconnect. She also shared text messages to support her claim. The incident was reported after a coach noticed a kiss mark on the boy’s neck. The boy later said he felt uncomfortable at the time, and his lawyer stated he began receiving psychiatric treatment. However, he reportedly told skating officials that he did not believe Lee’s actions were criminal and asked for leniency. The boy received a warning for entering the girls’ dormitory, and a coach was suspended for poor team management. Because of the suspension, Lee was removed from major competitions such as 2024 Skate America and 2024 NHK Trophy, and her appeal to the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee was rejected. The decision caused public backlash and protests from fans. On November 12, 2024, the Seoul Eastern District Court issued a temporary injunction, suspending the disciplinary action. As a result, Lee’s three-year suspension was lifted, allowing her to return to competition. [1]Wikipedia |
