  • When he was studying in 7th standard, he began learning cooking. His culinary skills were liked by his family and friends who encouraged him to become a chef. At that time, his financial condition was poor due to which he had to give up on his dream of studying hotel management and had to start a juice shop.

  • In the late 2010s, he opened his juice shop named Kulukki Hub where he tried new styles of preparing dishes.

  • He entered MasterChef India Season 8 with his signature dish, Fish Fry Mangalorean style. He later emerged victorious by defeating Suraj Thapa, Rukhsaar Sayeed, and Nambie Jessica Marak in the final, and won a Rs 25 lakh cash award.

  • After winning the show, Ashiq disclosed that he was the only earning member of his family, credited his family and friends for their support and said that he would open a restaurant in partnership with his brother-in-law with the money he won in the show.
