- Temba Bavuma is a South African cricketer, golfer, and businessman who has played in many World Cups. He is the Black African to captain the national team in all formats of cricket. Many cricket commentators praise his batting technique.
- While talking about his childhood in an interview, he revealed that he played games such as cricket, rugby, tennis, and soccer (football) as a child. His favourite game was soccer; however, after moving to Johannesburg at the age of twelve, he met his two uncles who moulded his interest towards cricket.
- In 2001, while studying in 6th grade at the South African College Schools (SACS), he was asked to write a letter about where he saw himself in the next 15 years. In his letter, Bavuma wrote that he saw himself shaking the hand of the South African President and playing for the South African national team. When he made his national team debut in 2014, his fans were amazed.
- He started his domestic career by playing for Soweto Cricket Club. On 2 October 2008, he made his first-class debut for Gauteng against Eastern Province in the Provincial Three-Day Challenge Tournament. On 5 October 2008, he played his debut List A (one-day) match for Gauteng against Eastern Province in the Provincial One-Day Challenge Tournament.
