Some Lesser Known Facts About T’kor Clottey

• T’kor Clottey learned to crochet when she was 12 years old. She taught crocheting to her mother at home, but her mother did not continue with it.

• In college, she was a board member and president of the Organization of Black Students. She created and launched the annual Black Convocation, an event celebrating Black students’ achievements at the University of Chicago.

• T’kor Clottey has worked as the outreach manager for the podcast ‘Kinda Sorta Brown,’ which discussed policies affecting black and brown communities.

• In June 2019, she started working as an Organizer and Communications Fellow in “Kamala Harris for President” campaign. She worked in the position till August 2019 in Des Moines, Iowa. She sent daily newsletters and pitched events to reporters under this Campaign.

• T’kor Clottey worked as a Communications Intern at All In Together from June 2020 to August 2020. During her period in this organisation, she managed the social media accounts, sent weekly newsletters to subscribers, and organized virtual webinars.

• She served as a Communications Coordinator at the University of Chicago from January 2020 to June 2022.

• From June 2021 to August 2021, she worked as a Design Assistant and Communications Intern at House of Chelsea B in Chicago, Illinois, United States.

• T’kor Clottey has been featured on the Refinery29 website. She has also designed outfits for many celebrities including Flo Milli, Lucky Daye, and Monet X Change.

• She took part in the 2021 Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Accelerator Program. This was a competitive 10-week summer program to help early-stage ventures develop their businesses. The program offered coaching and a $6,500 grant. It was held at the Polsky Center at the University of Chicago from June to August 2021.

• In November 2021, T’kor Clottey represented the University of Chicago as one of 14 students in a discussion with Michelle Obama and Yara Shahidi. The conversation was about Michelle Obama’s book ‘Becoming.’ The event was hosted by Penguin Random House and BET in Washington, D.C.

• Apart from being an entrepreneur, she is also a writer who contributed to MODA Magazine at the University of Chicago from October 2021 to June 2022.

• In June 2021, T’kor Clottey founded T’kor Couture in Chicago and began working as its Creative Director.
