• He was born and brought up in Delhi, India.

• After his father’s death, it was his mother who brought him up. According to Ashu, his mother would barely earn 4-5 thousand rupees, half of which would spend on his school fee. Initially, he studied at Rukmini Devi Public School, Pitampura, Delhi, and Happy Home Public School (HHPS), Sector 11, Rohini, Delhi, and later, his mother enrolled him in a government school, Govt. Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Sector-7, Rohini, Delhi, owing to high school fees in public schools. Ashu secured 95% marks in the 10th standard while studying in a government school.

• The poor financial condition of his family compelled him to start giving tuition classes, and his first student was Rukman Kaur.

• In 2019, before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in India, his mother lost almost 4-5 crore rupees in the real estate, and they had to sell their land and house to compensate for this. Again, Ashu started giving tuition classes, but this time, he started giving both online and offline classes.

• In 2013, he created a YouTube channel, Science and Fun, where he started uploading science-related videos. Soon, his unique style of teaching became popular on social media, and his channel went on to have more than 2,84 million subscribers.

• Ashu runs a coaching institute, OSR Academy, in Delhi along with his brother Ushank Ghai.
