- Alok Kumar started his training in singing under his father.
- At the age of 5, he performed for the first time publically.
- He took his further training in singing from Pracheen Kala Kendra in Chandigarh.
- He initially practised singing along with playing Harmonium. At the age of 9, Alok Kumar used to practice singing for 10 to 11 hours with his father.
- In the initial days of his singing, he practised the songs of Bollywood singers Mohammed Rafi and Ghulam Ali.
- In Tilka Manjhi College in Bhagalpur, students who were good at singing were given preference in admission to college. On behalf of his friend Ranjeet Yadav, he sang a song and took admission in the college, However, when the officials of the college came to know about it, they expelled him from the college.
- He won a cash prize of Rs 51 lakhs in the Bhojpuri TV show “Mahua Sur Sangram” telecasted on Mahua TV Channel. With the money won in the show, he started his music studio in Bihar.
- When Alok Kumar went to give an audition for the first time, he sang the Bhojpuri song “Odhani Ke Rang Piyar.”
