  • In April 2024, a Bollywood film ‘Maidaan’ was released which featured Ajay Devgn as Syed Abdul Rahim, the coach of the Indian football team which qualified for the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
  • He also represented India in the Asian Games.
  • Pal helped Mahun Bagan win the 1954 Calcutta League by scoring 9 goals in the league. He later helped the team win the 1955 Rover’s Cup.
  • He remained loyal to Mohun Bagan till his retirement. He was once given a blank cheque by Bagha Shome to play for Railways and once by J.C.Guha to play for East Bengal but he refused on both occasions.
  • He remained a bachelor throughout his life.
  • He was famous for scoring many goals with headers due to which he was popularly known as Mohun Bagan’s forehead.
  • He died on 14 October 2009 due to Alzheimer’s disease.
