Some Lesser Known About Mohan Raj
- Mohan Raj was a national-level athlete who was interested in sports from a very young age.
- He started his career at age 20 in the Indian Army which he left after five years when he suffered a leg injury.
- As part of his military service, he was trained in martial arts, such as kung fu, karate, and boxing.
- Though he came second in the Kerala state sub-inspector selection examination and passed several other competitive examinations, he chose to work with the customs department.
- After working in the customs department for two years, he joined the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as an Assistant Enforcement Officer (AEO).
- In 1989, he appeared as Keerikkadan Jose, a negative character in the Malayalam film Kireedam. The role was a milestone in his acting career.
- He was suspended from government service for not obtaining official permission to act in the film Kireedam. He then entered a legal battle that lasted over twenty years. He was reinstated in the service in 2010 but opted for a voluntary retirement in 2015.
- Some of the other Malayalam films he appeared in were as a police inspector in Aye Auto (1990), Uppukandam Paulachan in UppukandamBrothers (1993), Keerikkadan Jose in Chenkol (1993), Chandan Bhai in Pathram (1999), and driver Jose in Chirakodinja Kinavukal (2015).
- He acted in over 300 films including Tamil films such as Kalingarayan in Ezhumalai (2002) and Telugu films such as Gajendra in Adhipathi (2001).
