• Ranjith did an acting course before starting his acting career in 1993. His first lead role was in the Tamil film Sindhu Nathi Poo (1994) as Thirukkaval (Sakthivel).

• Some of his notable roles in Tamil films are Natpukkaga (1998) as Sirusu, Dharma (1998) as Ranjith, Nesam Pudhusu (1999) as Ranjith, and Kann Thirandhu Paaramma (2000) as Prabhu.

• He was the voice artist in the film Kadal Pookkal (2001) for the character Peter played by actor Manoj K Bharathi.

• He also appeared in negative roles in Malayalam films such as Karnan in Natturajavu (2004), Simon Nadar in Rajamanikyam (2005), and Ramanunni in Chandrolsavam (2005).
