• Prabath began playing cricket at Christ Church College Matale and then crossed over to Lumbini College Colombo.

• On 6 December 2011, Prabath made his List-A debut in cricket for the Colombo Cricket Club against the Sri Lanka Army during the 2011/12 Premier Limited Over Tournament.

• Prabath made his first-class debut playing for the Colombo Cricket Club against Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club on 10 February 2012 during the 2011/12 Premier League Tournament Tier B.

• Prabath’s T20 debut came during the 2011/12 CSN Premier Clubs T20 Tournament on 26 March 2012 while playing for the Colombo Cricket Club against the Lankan Cricket Club.

• Prabath was drafted by Jaffna Kings (formerly Jaffna Stallions) in the first season of the Lanka Premier League.
