  • She grew up in an artistic family in Quzhou, Zhejiang.
  • Qing showed a passion for the arts since childhood.
  • At the age of 13, she joined the Zhejiang Kunqu Opera Troupe to study traditional Kunqu opera.
  •  In 1985, He Qing began her acting career when director Hua Shan cast her in the film Disciples of Shaolin Temple. In the film, she played the role of a clever and brave girl, Xiao Qin.
  • Her breakthrough came in 1986 when she met Yang Jie, the chief director of the TV series Journey to the West. She was chosen to play Lingji Bodhisattva in the form of a playful young girl named Lianlian. Although her role lasted less than ten minutes, her bright smile and cheerful laughter left a strong impression on viewers. People also nicknamed her Sister Lianlian.
  • In 1987, she gained her major recognition when she played a character named Qin Keqing in the TV adaption of the famous Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber.
