ControversyAllegation of IPO Fraud (2024)
In December 2024, Financial Supervisory Service began investigating Bang Si-hyuk over allegations related to the 2020 Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Hybe Corporation. Authorities suspected that he had made profit-sharing agreements with private equity funds before the IPO without properly disclosing them to the public.
In July 2025, the Financial Services Commission referred Bang and three other executives to prosecutors for suspected unfair trading, and police raided Hybe’s headquarters during the investigation. Bang returned to South Korea in August 2025 and stated he would cooperate with authorities.
In December 2025, a court approved the temporary seizure of his Hybe shares while the investigation continued. [1]News18
