- In 1983, she completed her senior secondary education from Tashi Namgyal Academy in Sikkim.
- During her graduation in Political Science (Honours) from Lady Shriram College, Delhi University, Meenakshi Madan Rai received a Merit Scholarship from the Government of Sikkim.
