- Mamy Mbaye was born into a musical family in Senegal.
- Her father, Jimmy Mbaye, was a guitarist for Youssou Ndour’s band, Super Etoile.
- She was introduced to music from her mother, who was also a melodist, from a very young age.
- Mamy Mbaye learned self-taught singing from her idol, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, as a child.
- She worked hard in school, and never neglected her love for music, maintaining her studies all along the way.
- She became a member of a music group with her brother Checky Blaze, who became a rapper.
- The group was the family and they referred to themselves as the family in green.
- Her brother then went on to continue his rap career in Paris and Mamy Mbaye remained in Senegal to pursue her solo career.
- Some years later, Myriam came back to her and offered her a job. Mamy Mbaye took up the job and became a member of the group Alif, along with Myriam and Oumy.
