Controversy | Controversial Dismissal of Charlotte Dean: In September 2022, Deepti Sharma's run-out of England batter Charlotte Dean during the third ODI match at the iconic Lord's became a subject of discussion in the cricket fraternity as some cricketres termed the dismissal against the spirit of the game, and it sparked a 'Spirit of Cricket' debate. Charlotte's dismissal was the final dismissal of the match that happened in the 44th over of England chase when Deepti noticed Charlotte backing up too far at the non-striker end. According to Deepti it was a planned dismissal as they had warned Charlotte multiple times for the same. This kind of run out was removed only a few days back of Charlotte's dismissal from law relating to run-outs at non-striker’s end from “unfair play” section. "Law 41.16, running out the non-striker, was moved from Law 41 (Unfair play) to Law 38 (Runout). [9]Hindustan Times |
