• In 2018, Alan was on tour with the American TV series titled ‘Dancing with the Stars’ when he began to have severe stomach pain. He visited an urgent care centre where he was told that his blood had a high level of calcium and he did not quite take it seriously.

• After his mother asked him to do another blood test after a week, Alan Bersten found out that he had symptoms of a tumour on one of his parathyroid glands called hyperparathyroidism.

• He underwent surgery the next day to remove his left parathyroid and got back to work after a week of recovery.

• In the same year, Alan Bersten became a mentor in the first season of the American children’s dance competition television series titled ‘Dancing with the Stars: Juniors’ which was a spin-off of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ series.
