Some Lesser Known Facts About Allah Ghazanfar
- Allah Ghazanfar’s father didn’t want him to play cricket. He wanted his son to pursue his studies. But, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he started playing cricket as his elder brother Atta supported him.
- Initially, he was a fast bowler, but later his coach, Roze Khan, told him to bowl spin. He soon became a very good spin bowler.
- His elder brother always supported him and even bought 30 new balls every month so that Allah could practice with them.
- He later played for state under-16 teams. In just his 2nd match in the Shpageeza Cricket League, he took 4 wickets for 15 runs for Mis Ainak Knights against the Hindukush Stars.
- He was included in the draft for the 2022-2023 Big Bash League but he went unsold.
- His name was present in the draft for the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) but no team bid for him.
- In the 2024 Under-19 World Cup, he took 8 wickets at an average of 16.75.
- In March 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) acquired him for his base price of Rs 20 lakhs (US$24,000) as a replacement for Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Mumbai Indians (MI) also wanted to sign him up as their net bowler but couldn’t due to visa issues.
