• Amrin Shaikh, an Indian woman and the sibling of the well-known stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, gained attention in 2024 for her appearance as a guest on Bigg Boss 17, a show where Munawar participated as a contestant.

• Amrin Shaikh grew up in a humble family. Her father used to run a restaurant, but it didn’t go well, and he lost all his money, getting into a lot of debt. Due to money problems, her mother and grandmother used to make samosas at home and Munawar would sell them at a stall. In an interview, Munawar talked about the same and said,
  

  My mother and grandmother would make samosas at home, and I started a stall outside our house where I’d fry them up and sell them. It was a struggle. I burned my fingers, had hot oil splutter on me. But I became a pro with time, and this business worked.”

  Additionally, Munawar would pursue various odd jobs to support his family. In an interview, he talked about the same and said,

  We had a restaurant, but it didn’t work out. Dad lost all his money, was under massive debt, so I had to work. I worked for two months at a gift shop from 9 in the morning to 8 in the night. I made ₹850 per month for working 11 hours a day. I had to walk 3.5km to the shop. I didn’t like it, which is when we decided to do something else.”

  In 2007, Amrin’s mother committed suicide by drinking acid, and her father passed away in 2020 after suffering from paralysis.

• Her brother, Munawar Faruqui, is a well-known stand-up comedian, rapper, and TV personality. He rose to prominence with his standup comedy video Dawood, Yamraaj & Aurat (2020), which went viral on YouTube. In 2023, he became a household name when he appeared on the reality TV show Bigg Boss 17.

• In 2024, on the family week of Bigg Boss 17, Amrin Shaikh visited the Bigg Boss house to meet her brother, Munawar, who was a contestant on the show. When she entered, everyone in the house had to play a game of freeze-and-release. The reunion was very emotional. The siblings shared warm hugs, making many contestants teary-eyed. Amrin noticed that Munawar had lost weight and encouraged him, saying he had to stay strong. She also recommended him not to share personal things with others in the house and warned him that some people were judging him for his divorce.
