Some Lesser Known Facts About Amir Hatami Amir Hatami was born in 1966 in Zanjan, Iran and joined the Basij force at the age of 14 and began his early military involvement. In 1984, he officially joined the Iranian Army Ground Forces. He participated in the Iran–Iraq War and gained battlefield experience during Operation Mersad.
