- Chaudhry Aslam rose through the ranks from ASI to SHO (Station House Officer) to eventually to SSP.
- He was widely known as an encounter-specialist leading aggressive, often high-risk operations against terrorists, gangsters, target killers, extortionists and militant and extremist groups in Karachi and surrounding regions.
- In 2010, Aslam was appointed as head of the Investigation Wing in the Criminal Investigation Department.
- Aslam won himself a reputation for his performance in the 2012 Lyari grand operation which once again aimed at clearing the area of criminals.
- He spearheaded numerous operations targeting elements affiliated with militant and criminal organizations such as Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), various gang networks which were notably in the volatile district Lyari, extortion rings, sectarian groups, and target killers.
- His fearless approach, readiness to confront danger, and repeated survival of assassination attempts earned him both respect and notoriety.
- For his work and impact, many regarded him as a super-cop and a symbol of determined law enforcement in Pakistan’s most turbulent city.
- On 9 January 2014, Chaudhry Aslam Khan was killed in a suicide car bombing on the Lyari Expressway in Karachi. The Mohmand Agency chapter of the banned TTP claimed responsibility for the attack as a revenge.
- In 2017, investigations claimed that his own driver and guard betrayed him and shared his location details with militants by making them accomplices in the assassination.
- His life inspired the 2022 Pakistani biopic Chaudhry: The Martyr. In the film, his character is portrayed by his cousin, DSP Tariq Islam.
