- He loved acting since childhood. He has acted in the play named Fiddler on the Roof many times at his school.
- After graduation, Jost worked as a reporter and copy editor for the newspaper Staten Island Advance. He was later hired as a writer for a short-lived Nickelodeon animated show, Kappa Mikey.
- He left his job, he started working for the NBC’s Saturday Night Live, which gave him a writing position in 2005.
