Some Lesser Known Facts About Dhiraj Takri

• In 2018, Dhiraj Takri started learning English on his own.

• In the same year, Dhiraj Takri created his own YouTube channel and started uploading videos where he teaches people to speak in the American English accent. He holds more than 28 thousand subscribers; as of 2024.

• In 2021, he wanted to sing Christian songs in the local church but he didn’t want to sound like a non-native speaker. That’s when he started looking online and learning the Western accent.

• Dhiraj Takri failed his 12th standard due to lack of formal education and poor background, and soon after, he started making videos on Instagram, teaching people about how to speak in English like a Native English Speaker by using movie and TV show references.

• When Dhiraj was studying at the Christian Theological Training Institute in Thiruvalla, Kerala, he started investing more time in learning English after which he started making normal videos of him speaking English. He was quoted saying in an interview that
  

  I saw a video (on YouTube) where I found someone teaching how to connect words and shorten them in spoken English conversation. That captivated me and I was interested to learn that kind of English.”

• Dhiraj had to come back to his village due to the COVID-19 Lockdown and that’s when he had free time and he started learning and practising the Western accent by watching English songs and English videos.

• Coming from a poor background and living in a place where internet connectivity was not available initially, it was very difficult for him to pursue his interest in learning as well as teaching English. During the lockdown, Dhiraj Takri got internet access and learnt to edit photos and videos to upload them on Instagram.

• After getting his hand mastered in making normal videos, in 2023, Dhiraj self-learned how to make Instagram reels.

• During his early days of learning English, he had no wish to make reels on Instagram but as he kept learning how to speak, he gathered more confidence and got interested in making videos of the same.

• After the COVID-19 Lockdown ended, Dhiraj Takri went to Lucknow to study and work at a church in 2021. Till October 2023, he was residing in Lucknow where he made a couple of videos.

• While making videos for Instagram, his phone broke down and the camera inside was damaged. But he continued making reels using his broken-down phone as he didn’t want to stop what he was doing so passionately.

• Dhiraj used to listen to native speakers of English and then record that in his voice. He would record himself speaking like a native English speaker every single day and then he would compare the recordings with the native English speakers.

• Dhiraj Takri has more than 1 million followers on Instagram as of 2024.
