- In his childhood, Gurindervir Singh used to run in open fields in his hometown in Punjab, India.
- He did not receive any fancy equipment for practicing.
- His father served as a police officer in Punjab Government and was a former athlete.
- His father became his first role model, who motivated Gurindervir in developing his interest in running.
- His father used to narrate him the stories of noted athletes and champions of India.
- When Gurindervir Singh grew up, he joined the Punjab Institute of Sports (PIS) academy, where he was trained under coach Sarabjeet Singh Happy.
- During his training at PIS, he studied the science of sprinting. He learnt and practiced stride mechanics, breathing rates, and race strategy.
- In 2017, Gurindervir Singh participated in the Asian U18 Championships and won a gold medal.
- In April 2018, he competed at the National Junior Athletics Championships during the 16th Federation Cup, which was organised in Coimbatore, India.

- His father once recalled in a media talk that Gurindervir watched a video over the phone and came to know about stomach worms. He then bought Rs. 10 medicine from a local medicine shop, which cured him. His father said,
We consulted doctors across Punjab, but there was no cure. He would feel dejected because his body was failing him. Then he saw a video about stomach worms, and a Rs 10 medicine from a local chemist cured him.”
