• While growing up, Heera Lal Patel faced poverty and many difficulties in a village environment.​ He learned how to deal with tough situations from an early age.​

• During his school days, he wished to become a big officer so that he could make the world easier and more comfortable for everyone.​ He realised that bringing change needs a lot of strength and power.​

• From March 1993 to July 1994, he was a trainee engineer at NTPC, Kobra, Vindhya Nagar, Madhya Pradesh. He then worked as an engineer at NTPC Farakka in West Bengal, India.

• He cleared the U.P. Civil Services exam in 1994.

• Heera Lal Patel pursued his Foundation Training at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Haldwani, Nainital, Uttarakhand, from 19 July 1994 to 8 October 1994.

• On 10 October 1994, he started his Field Training in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He completed the training on 4 February 1995.

• From 6 February 1995 to 20 May 1995, he earned Professional Training at ATI, Nainital, Uttarakhand.

• On 12 March 2018, he began working as a Managing Director (UP Small Industries Corporation Limited) (UPSIC), Kanpur. He served in the position till 31 August 2018.

• From 31 August 2018 to February 2020, Heera Lal Patel served as a District Magistrate of Banda, Uttar Pradesh.

• In June 2024, Heera Lal Patel implemented the ‘Green Election Model’ in the Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab.

• After that, he managed the same election process as the returning officer for Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra and Gujarat in 2025.

• Apart from being a civil servant, he is also an author. He has published a book titled Dynamic DM.
