- He was born into a family which was not economically sufficient. His father had a poultry farm which provided for the daily bread for his family.
- In his childhood, his friends used to call him Koka which meant Hen, due to his father having poultry farm.
- He started playing football when he was just 6 years old and would travel 20 km each day to the academy.
- Ivan’s parents made huge sacrifices for him. His parents were not able to afford the Academy’s fees and hence his father had to sell poultry farm stocks to make sure Ivan gets proper football guidance.
