- Karim Janat started playing cricket during childhood. He followed his elder brother Asghar Afghan who also served as captain of the Afghanistan cricket team.
- He later played domestic cricket and also represented Afghanistan in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup.
- In November 2020, his brother Asghar Afghan got engaged for the second time. Afghan already had 1 son and 4 daughters from his first wife.
- In November 2021, he signed a sponsorship deal with Sporoot Sports.
- During the 2023 Four-Day Tournament, he made 561 runs at an average of 140.25 with 2 hundred and 4 fifties. He even took 18 wickets, becoming the 3rd highest wicket-taker.
