- Kay Kay Menon’s ancestors belonged to Kerala.
- His father had a transferable job due to which he spent his childhood in different places like Kerala, Nagpur, Pune, and Mumbai.
- While he was studying in school, he participated in various stage plays and other extracurricular activities.
- At the age of nine, he performed in his first stage play in which he became a sunflower.
- After completing his graduation, he worked in an advertising agency and made commercials for various brands such as Kinetic Honda and Marlboro cigarettes. However, after a month, he left the job.
- He then started his advertising company (which he called shop) in Dadar, Mumbai from where he used to make corporate films but it didn’t go well and he closed the office and decided to get back to theatre.
- He then started developing an interest in acting. Initially, he worked in crowds in various acting projects.
- Later, he got an opportunity to portray Harilal (Mahatma Gandhi’s son) in the Hindi theatre play ‘Mahatma vs Gandhi,’ along with the veteran Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah. Since then, he considers Naseeruddin his unofficial guru.
