• Manab Deka won the Lakhimpur assembly seat with 70,387 votes in the 2021 Assam election on the BJP ticket.

• He beat two Congress candidates, Joy Prakash Das with 67,351 votes and Nandini Mutu of the Congress-led UPA government with 57,804 votes.

• Deka was an outsider from the start itself in many eyes of within the constituency.

• While in office as MLA, Deka gave one-month salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in 2025, during a meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The contribution was recognized by Sarma.

• People in Lakhimpur are said to have been unhappy with Deka’s performance for as many years and at one stage it was suggested that his name might be removed from BJP’s assembly list for the Assembly elections in 2026.

• On 4 April 2026, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu campaigned in Lakhimpur to support Deka ahead of the polling day 2026.

• Khandu appealed to the voters in Lakhimpur to support BJP and their vision to make Assam developed & Northeast developed.
