Controversy	Accident Case in Kanpur: Anand Mahindra found himself in a controversy on 23 September 2023, when an FIR was lodged against him in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The complaint came from Rajesh Mishra, a Kanpur resident, who had gifted his son Apoorv a Mahindra Scorpio SUV on 2 December 2020. Apoorv met with an accident in the same vehicle while returning from Lucknow to Kanpur on 14 January 2022, and he died on the spot. As per Rajesh's complaint, both Apoorv and his friends had their seat belts on during the accident, but the airbags failed to deploy. In the complaint, it was mentioned that the car lacked airbags altogether. In response to this complaint, the Raipurwa Police regestered an FIR against Anand Mahindra and 12 others. The charges brought against them included IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 287 (Negligent conduct with respect to machinery), 304-A (causing death by negligence), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 102-B (criminal intimidation).
