• During his second year in school, James suffered an injury and broke his collarbone after playing only three games. He had to sit out the rest of the season and was only able to play four games the following year. He remained on the bench throughout the season and played only four matches, during which he caught a career-high 40 passes for 401 yards as a senior.

• After graduating from the university, Matt tried out for the NFL and gave trials at the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints, but was not selected for either team.

• James finished his football career at Wake Forest with 48 receptions for 458 yards.

• James worked at PNC Bank in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before shifting to New York City. He works for CBRE Group, Inc., a commercial real estate company in New York City. James is also the founder of ABC Food Tours, a non-profit organization that educates children in underserved communities about food and exercise in New York City.
