Some Lesser Known Facts About Nitish Kumar

• Nitish’s family migrated to Canada in 1989 from Ludhiana, Punjab.

• Nitish began playing cricket at the age of 4 in the Toronto Cricket Academy. Nitish’s father wanted him to become a professional cricketer as he used to play cricket himself at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club.

• Nitish was 11 years old when he met with a car accident in 2005 while on a cricket tour to England along with his father. Nitish’s father died on the spot while Nitish was badly injured after which he had to undergo surgery and was admitted to the hospital for one month.

• Nitish’s childhood coach Brian Hale once compared him with Wayne Gretzky, a former Canadian Ice Hockey player. He praised him and said,
  

  He’s a phenom in the sport, quite an achiever for his age and the Wayne Gretzky of cricket. As a batter, his hand-and-eye coordination are outstanding. He also bowls and fields extremely well for his age. I can just imagine what he’ll be like in a few more years.”
