• Oneal Sabu was born in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, where he spent most of his childhood.

• After completing his schooling up to the 10th grade, he returned to his ancestral homeland, Fort Kochi, Kerala.

• After completing a Master’s in Law, Oneal Sabu worked as a lawyer in various law firms, specializing in maritime affairs and trade law from 2006 to 2017.

• In 2017, Sabu left his corporate legal job to pursue his passion for food, culture, and storytelling and made his identity as a food curator and culinary anthropologist in Kerala.

• Oneal started his culinary journey by writing about his favorite dishes, which eventually evolved into a popular food blog. He later shifted to video content, and his food vlogs quickly gained attention for their engaging storytelling and cultural insights.

• Oneal once opened his restaurant in Kochi, but that didn’t work well and he closed that within in few months. Since then, he has been working as a freelance chef serving at various renowned restaurants.

• He co-founded Kerala’s largest online food community, “Eat Kochi Eat,” which promotes connections among food lovers and creators of Kerala.

• As a self-taught culinary anthropologist, he has deeply studied the roots of traditional cuisine, especially from his hometown of Cochin, which played a vital role in the maritime spice trade in the 16th century.

• Oneal Sabu has represented Cochin’s lesser-known cuisine in various capacities, including chef, influencer, historian, anthropologist, and activist. He has collaborated with chefs, mixologists, restaurateurs, and farmers to preserve and promote culinary heritage.

• He conducts popular innovative heritage initiatives such as the Spook Trail Walk – Colonial Crawlies, Community Mesa, and Phantasma, which have become online sensations. Colonial Crawlies is a midnight walking tour through Fort Kochi’s colonial past, infused with horror stories and forgotten mysteries. Community Mesa is a community dining concept where people share meals and cultural conversations, and Phantasma is a hybrid storytelling experience blending food, music, and history.

• Oneal Sabu also published his book titled “Soul Fried Monologues,” in which he shared stories, emotions, and memories connected to food.
