• Raj Kushwaha belonged to a poor family from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.

• He used to live near Sonam Raghuvanshi‘s house, but later shifted to a different colony.

• After completing his formal studies, he started working as in the finance department at a furniture sheet unit owned by Sonam’s family in Indore.

• In early 2024, Raj and Sonam fell in love with each other and started dating.

• Some people claimed that Sonam told her family about their affair, but they rejected her proposal due to the differences in their financial situations.

• In early May 2025, Raj Kushwaha and Sonam Raghuvanshi made a plan to murder her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, 11 days before their marriage.

• Later, when Raja and Sonam went on their Honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, Raj contacted his cousin Anand and two friends, Vishal and Akash, and told them about the plan. They agreed to help him.

• Between 19 and 21 May 2025, all four men reached Shillong, Meghalaya. They stayed in a different guest house, but kept in touch with Sonam through calls.
