- Sadanand Vasant lost his father at the age of 15, so his mother began working as a cook to provide for the family.
- In 1977, Sadanand Vasant began working as a newspaper delivery boy to earn money to provide for his family and education.
- He worked as a newspaper delivery guy for 10 years.
- After completing his formal education, he began working as a cost and management accountant at the Institute of Cost Accountants of India
- In 1999, he cracked the UPSC exam, became an Indian Police Officer, and began working for the CBI.
- He was first posted as a probationary officer in coastal Ratnagiri district.
- In 2005, while working for the CBI, he received the Humphrey Fellowship and moved to the United States and studied White-Collar and Organized crimes at the University of Minnesota.
- In 2006, after completing his fellowship programme, he returned to India and was assigned the post of Additional Commissioner of Police (Economic Offences Wing).
- In 2008, he gained attention at the international level, after he rescued women and children at the Cama and Albless Hospital in Mumbai during the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai by the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
- During the rescue operation at the hospital, Sadanand Vasant who was then posted as the additional commissioner of police, was highly injured. He was hit by splinters in his hands and legs.
