Controversy	Refusing memento on reality show In 2023, she participated in Amrita TV’s reality show, Super Ammayum Makalum, with her mother, actress Sheena Santhosh. The show aimed to find the “best mother-daughter” duo. Shaitya and Sheena reached the finale and secured fifth place. However, they refused to accept the memento and left the stage, saying they deserved first place. They expressed disappointment, claiming it was a shock to hear their final ranking and that they had spent a lot of money preparing for the show despite not being in a good financial position. The show’s presenter, Shweta Menon, publicly stated that showing disrespect to a stage was unacceptable. Public opinion was divided, but the controversy increased Shaitya and her mother’s visibility.

Some Lesser Known Facts About Shaitya Santhosh

From her school days, Shaitya loved performing on stage. She took part in classical dance, mono act, and singing competitions.

She also won state-level prizes for Mohiniyattam and Kuchipudi in the CBSE arts festival (Kalolsavam). She has often said that her teachers played a big role in helping her become a better artist.

While working as a lawyer in the High Court, she started pursuing a career in the Malayalam television and film industry.

She began her television career with comedy shows like Comedy Stars on Asianet and Comedy Festival on Mazhavil Manorama. She also acted in the sitcom Uppum Mulakum on Flowers TV.

She has worked in Malayalam films such as King Liar (2016) and Ningal Camera Nireekshanathilaanu in 2019 (as Ancy).

While she is known for her comic roles, she has expressed interest in doing serious characters as well.

Shaitya’s mother, Sheena Santhosh, is also an actress who has acted in films like Palthu Janwar. Both have appeared together in media interviews.

During an episode of the Super Ammayum Makalum show on Amrita TV in 2023, host Swasika revealed that Shaitya had saved someone’s name as “Lover” on her phone. Shaitya replied that the “Lover” saved in her phone is actually her father.

Shaitya then invited her father on stage, and their emotional exchange went viral. He shared that he has spent most of his life with his wife and daughter, rarely apart from Shaitya since her birth.

From school to college, he dropped and picked her up daily, and still puts her to sleep at night. Comparing her to his late mother, he admitted fearing the bond might break one day.

He said he doesn’t want her to leave after marriage, believing daughters should be able to live with their parents to avoid many societal problems.
