Controversy	On 9 April 2021, her brother, Rakesh, was brutally murdered. His body was cut into pieces and dumped in various parts of Hubli city, and his decapitated burnt head was found from the Devargudihal forest area. Four suspects; Niyaz Ahmed Katigar (21), Tousif Channapur (21), Altaf Mulla (24), and Aman Giraniwale (19) were arrested in the case. Reportedly, in further investigation, it was found that Shanaya was also involved in the matter. As per some sources, she was in a relationship with one of the suspects Niyaz Ahmed Katigar, and her brother was not agreeing to their relationship, so they planned his murder.
