• Michael Gregory Mizanin, better-known by his ring name, “The Miz”, was an avid sportsperson during his high school days. Not only was he the captain of his school Basketball team, but he was also an ardent swimmer. In addition, he was the editor of his high school yearbook.

• In one of the Total Divas’ episode, it was revealed that he was only in the 5th grade when his parents got divorced.

• No sooner had he joined the Farmer School of Business than he received a call from MTV, where he had auditioned to be a part of the TV show, ‘The Real World’. Notably, The Miz went on to become one of the most popular members of the 10th season- The Real World: Back To New York.

• Looking at his popularity, MTV hired him as a host for several of their popular shows.

• To realize his ultimate dream of becoming a wrestler, The Miz left his TV career in mid-2003 and began to train at the Ultimate University, Ultimate Pro Wrestling’s (UPW) developmental domain.

• The following year, he participated in WWE Tough Enough, a wrestling reality show where the winner is awarded a WWE contract worth US$1,000,000. Though The Miz ‘lost’ the final of the show, he was still offered a developmental contract.

• The WWE creative had played no part in giving him a ring moniker as he himself had crafted one during his TV days. In one of the episodes of The Real World, he mysteriously began to call himself as ‘The Miz’, an alter ego to his usual cool and easy-going demeanor.

• The Viper, Randy Orton, was the original choice to play the lead role in the WWE Studios production- The Marine 3: Homefront. However, since Randy Orton was a regular defaulter during his time at the US Marine Corps., WWE thought it better to replace him with “The Awesome.”

• Perhaps a unique record in itself, two of his Intercontinental Championship reigns have lasted for only a single day.

• A genuine animal lover, the Miz has two pet cats and dogs. While the cats are named ‘Latte’ and ‘Mocha’, the dogs are referred to as ‘Pumpkin’ and ‘Spice’.
