  • Vinod Hindocha is a Swedish electrical engineer who is known for being the father of Anni Dewani who was murdered on her honeymoon on 13 September 2010 in South Africa.
  • Vinod Hindocha settled in Sweden in the 1970s after migrating from Uganda when the Asians were expelled out of the country by its former president ‘Idi Amin.’ Soon after reaching Sweden, Vinod and his wife started their livelihood by earning through picking strawberries. Later, he started working as a technician in electrical at Mariestads Elautomatik Fastighet AB.
  • In 2015, Vinod wrote a book on his murdered daughter and her life story. The book titled ‘Anni Dewani: A Father’s Story’ was published by him with the help of a UK- based reporter named Shekhar Bhatia who was covering Shrien Dewani‘s trials in the Capetown court. In the book, he narrated that he received the information about the kidnapping of Anni and Shrien from Shrien’s father. He said Shrien’s father told him,

    Vinod, Anni and Shrien have been kidnapped.”

    He further mentioned that Shrien’s brother Preyen, who was in regular touch with the Capetown police, informed him about the killing of Anni after her body was found by the police. He said,

    They shot Anni.”

    She looked as though she was sleeping peacefully and might wake up and greet her father.”

    I wonder whether Anni had discovered his hidden true self during their honeymoon in South Africa and was about to expose him. Could this be why she met her death?”

  • In a conversation with a media house, Vinod Hindocha stated that the three-day wedding of Anni and Shrien was a drama, and it was fake. He further added that all of his family members wanted answers from Shrien about the killing of their beloved daughter. He said that he sued Shrien Dewani not because of the money that they invested in the lavish wedding, but for the loss of his daughter who left the world just for nothing. He urged,

    This is our last message to Shrien Dewani: please give us the answers.”

    Vinod Hindocha further added that Shrien never told them about his sexuality not even to Anni otherwise he would not have allowed his daughter to marry a bisexual. Shrien kept his sexuality a secret for three and a half years. He said that this news came to us as a shock that he slept with the male prostitutes. He stated that no father in this world would allow his daughter to marry a bisexual. He said,

    Which father in the world, including me, would allow their daughter to marry a person who sleeps with men? I don’t think anybody would.”
