  • When she was 11, her family moved to Kabul because of her father’s job transfer. She lived there during her teenage years.
  • Tina’s father, a skilled Sitar player, encouraged her to learn classical music.
  • She began her training with Ustad Nizamuddin Khan, son of Ustad Ramzan Khan from the Delhi Gharana. Later, she honed her skills under the guidance of Ustad Chand Amrohvi.
  • Tina also received special training from the renowned ghazal maestro Mehdi Hassan.
  • In 1977, she began working for an advertising company. Tina was deeply engaged in all the creative aspects of the advertising business, including evaluating the music.
  • Tina also taught at the Karachi American School in the art department.
  • In 1980, while Tina Sani was training under Ustad Nizamuddin Khan, producer Ishrat Ansari approached her to sing in a new television program he was starting, aimed at students.
  • The program’s concept was to introduce a new singer every week. Tina participated and sang a Punjabi song, “Akhan chham chham Wassiyan,” for which she had been preparing for a long time. Her performance in the program made her famous, and her singing career took off.

  • Her second song, “Khari Neem Kay Neechay,” a folk song from Thar, also became a huge hit. This Urdu song was the title track for a television play.
  • After the success of her second song, Tina was signed by EMI, a Pakistani recording company.
  • In 1985, Tina Sani was approached by Pakistani actor and music composer Arshad Mehmood to sing a poem by Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz. She performed one of the poet’s famous songs, “Meray Dil Meray Musafir,” which became very popular.
  • Over the next 10 to 15 years, Tina Sani became widely known and highly praised for her ghazals, particularly those of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Her renditions of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poetry, including songs like “Bahaar Aayi” and “Bol Ke Lab Azad Hain Terey” composed by Arshad Mehmood, got her much success in Pakistan and India.
  • Tina Sani sings the rendition of many renowned poets such as Zauq, Ghalib, Mir Taqi Mir, and Jalaluddin Rumi.
  • In 2010, she had a performance in Ireland where she sang “Shikwa Jawab-e-Shikwa” by Allama Iqbal, alongside many Irish musicians.
  • In 2013, Tina Sani performed Faiz’s “Mori Araj Suno” for Coke Studio Season 3, accompanied by a reading by Arieb Azhar, a Pakistani musician.

  • In 2016, Tina Sani participated in the Lahore Music Meet, where she led panel discussions, workshops, and storytelling sessions.
  • She has lent her voice to numerous songs for Pakistani TV shows and films, such as PTV’s ‘Moorat’, Hum TV’s ‘Bari Aapa’, and ARY Zindagi’s ‘Bahu Begum’.
